This isn’t judgment. It’s lived experience.

Addiction doesn’t always look like drugs or alcohol. Sometimes it looks like food. Sex. Gambling. Work. Avoidance. Numbing.

In this raw and reflective episode of Table for Us, I sit with a hard but necessary conversation about addiction — not just what it looks like on the surface, but what’s happening underneath it. We talk about grief, trauma, depression, and the emotional pain so many people are trying to escape.

I share personal experiences, including the loss of my grandmother at 16 and how grief led me to over-eating as a coping mechanism. We also talk about addiction in the Black community, how it shows up in families, how it affects those who love us, and why healing has to be a personal choice.

This episode isn’t about judgment — it’s about understanding, accountability, and compassion. Because you can’t force healing on someone… they have to want it for themselves.
